FLY!, like other programs, got pushed out the door before it was totally ready.
Canada sufferred as many Airports were given the generic IDs of CY or CZ.
CANDEX simply adds the correct Airport IDs to those airports activating them to the FLY Vector Window.

****IMPORTANT****
If you have made modification to your databases, please back them up before importing .DEX files.

Like any other add-on **** USE AT OWN RISK****

You will need Editor 1.04 or above.

-----INSTALLATION-----

1.Back up your Database airport index files. Once updated and compiled the indexes cannot be reversed.

2.Extract CANDEX.DEX to your FLY! Main directory.

3.Bring up Editor 1.04 or above. Go to the menu and under EDITORS select FILE MANAGER.
Choose 7. Extract all files from an .EPD
At the prompt of the line which reads, Enter POD file: Type the following SYSTEM\AIRPORT.
Let it do its thing.

4. Close down the Editor completely, (Esc) gets you out of any black screen, and restart it up again.

5. Go to menu under Editors and pick DATABASE EDITOR
Choose L. Import records from extract file
At the prompt of the line which reads, Import file name (.DEX):, Type the following: CANDEX.DEX
Say "Y" to the line which reads, Indexes need to be rebuilt. Rebuild now? [Y/N]

You are done!!!!!

All Canadian airports will now show up in the Vector window of FLY!

If you want to have the editor find the airports, you must rebuild the airport.epd as the editor gets it data from EPD files. (Backup your old one!!!!) This will also allow these airports to be flattened when doing elevations.
